In 2005 as a sophomore in college, while floating downstream through uncertainty and ignorance, I was introduced to the Team leadership organization that was started by Orrin Woodward back in 1999. I didn’t have a clue at the time that a couple years later my purpose in life would be discovered.

One of the first books I ever read from start to finish in the Team system was by Rick Warren called, The Purpose Driven Life.  As a kid, I was always told that I was an ‘oops’ or an ‘accident.’ It was all of course in fun (or so I thought) but I grew up believing that it was true. This forced me to not care about who I was or ‘whose’ I was. There was no purpose for my life, just survival.  Because I had no understanding of scripture, as I started my spiritual walk and read Warren’s book I was completely awed by what he had to say:

“You are not an accident. Your birth was no mistake or mishap, and your life is no fluke of nature. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. He was not at all surprised by your birth. In fact, he expected it. Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of God. He thought of you first; it is not fate, nor chance, nor luck, nor coincidence that you are breathing at this very moment. You are alive because God wanted to create you! The bible says, ‘The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.’ Psalm 138:8

After understanding this I couldn’t help but feel guilty for my apathetic attitude towards life. I certainly knew my life was not being lived on purpose. If it was true that I was designed to live in accordance with God and to fulfill a mission on earth, what a shame if I let my selfish ways get in the way of that. Soon after understanding this and reading Warren’s book I had such a hunger for scripture and truth. I couldn’t – not figure out the cliché question, “Why am I here?”

And so I ask the question, do you know why you are here? Do you believe God has a purpose and a plan for your life? If you do, what are you doing right now to live for your purpose? If you don’t, what are you doing right now to discover your purpose? These are deep questions that most of us don’t like to ask ourselves.

LIFE leadership is helping people discover their purpose. I love what LIFE founder Tim Marks says, “we won’t tell you what you should believe, we just ask that you know why you believe what you believe.” A few hours ago I was working with a group and it always happens that when we get together, our entire meeting is directed back to ’cause’ and ‘purpose.’ I have never heard of or experienced anything in my life that looked like business where purpose rose above profits. This is no coincidence. It is because our purpose is much bigger than our business, we just happen to have a business that is attached to our purpose (as Orrin Woodward would state). It is no wonder why we get into these deep conversations; it’s God’s work in motion.

The Team is literally banding together people who are living on purpose. God is leading those who are ‘seeking’ purpose and direction to us. The reason Orrin Woodward will reach 1,000,000 people in the next 5 years is because LIFE is starting at a time when God knows our country needs it. People are living on thin strands of hope for the future; then God hears a cry on bended knees and the LIFE leaders are led to rescue that person by telling them, “we will not only offer hope back into your life, but we will offer purpose into your life.”  What we do makes a difference. What we do changes lives but more importantly, what we do fulfills the ultimately question, ‘why am I here?’ Don’t waste any more time; discover your purpose with Orrin Woodward and the LIFE leadership community, it might be the first time you recognize why you were put here.

Blessings, Kristen
